The Sounding Burrows Medlar and The Sounding Burrows Scott had mated at the end of november.
And on januari 28 the pups were born.
Two beautiful boys, Hawthorn en Buckthorn.
The pups have been placed at loving homes.
Well, here we go for a photoimpression of their first eight weeks :)
Medlar doesn't like 'strange men', so I had to get me Lotus before she even considered becoming a mom.
You can read about that litter here.
Trouble was this time I didn't have Lotus at hand ( he lives with my mom now), but Medlar kindly took a fancy to young Scott.
As you can see in the above picture - they were pretty much in love!
First thing I did was getting the birthplace in working order :)
I wanted Medlar to feel happy and comfortable there, so I started some weeks before the pups were due.
Well it turned out to be pretty comfortable, because all the dogs wanted it to be their place!
Here's Medlar using it :)
It takes just a short two weeks before their eyes open and I've got me a couple of Sinatra's again :)
(I love this phase!)
The weather turns out to be rather nice, so at the beginning of march they venture outside for the very first time.
They also get to meet their dad, who turns out to be the most puploving male I've ever come across.
After just a short while it even got to the point where he was spending more time with the pups than their mom!
She's glad to get a break from constant vigil, but only if she is sure Scott is truly taking her place.
Otherwise she wouldn't even dream of leaving her pups, not even to eat or pee!
A couple of days later I take the plunge and introduce the pups to the pack.
They all respond like it is the most normal thing in the world and like they have always been there.
And they all enjoy getting the chance to sit outside in the sun in the early spring.
But there is a chill wind blowing, so we have to keep our outside ventures short.
When tired from play the pups head inside - but not their own pen: they retire to daddy Scott's crate!
Scott isn't just being a rolemodel to the pups - he is also teaching Medlar a thing or two.
How to enjoy pups and how to play with them for starters!
She's getting more and more into this whole motherhood thing.
At six weeks starts their formal training - how to walk on a leash, how to be housebroken, how not to bite my nose
and all those other things that make a dog a good companion :)
By now I've also started grooming the pups. Rather proud of it too! Particularly their ears and cheeks.
It wasn't easy though! And I did a better job on Hawk than on Buck, Hawk looks absolutely perfect!
That's all for now, folks!
