In september 1993 I got my first Lakeland, a five months old grizzle and tan laddie that I named Tryfan.

He wasn't just cute as a pup, he turned out to be a wonderful companion for pups himself. He was sóóóó pleased when I got him Ashop to watch over:)

Tryfan with Ashop when she just arrived (ca. 6 months old)

Vondel and Tryfan, standing guard over little Ashop.

He was the most wonderful and loving friend anyone could have. Always in for fun, quietly sleeping beside me when I had to study, cheering me up when I was down, celebrating with me when I had fun and generally being the sunshine in my life. Hé is the reason I have a bunch of these fun dogs in the house now and I will never again be without them!

He never could resist the camera, head tilted to see if I wanted hím in the picture ...

And he was not only a wonderful dog to have, but he was goodlooking too!

A lovely object for a lovely study ...

If you wondered where my logo came from ...

And still enjoying the company of pups and young dogs even when he himself was getting on a bit.

Thoroughly enjoying himself

Living with Tryfan I found out that having a dog can be all fun and no downside: he could come with me on walks for hours, could be put in a bag and he would sit there quietly, walk besides a bike or be put in the basket, loved to go anywhere by car - even on a 1800 kilometer trip to France and back in two days, because of a disastrous holidaycottage - could be home alone for hours (though I never could be parted long from him ;-) ); he loved the company of other dogs and worked wonders on my pups. Tryfan loved the camera and I have loads of photo's of him, he would sit or stand in any position I put him in.

He has been with me to my work - and made everybody love him ...

He went with me to university - and made everybody love him ...

He went with me to dogtraining for agility, was good at it - and made everybody love him ...

I left him for three days with my mom - and she loved to have him - so I could go to Scotland and get me a second Lakeland (which I didn't at that time, but that is another story) and he never gave her any trouble, but got completely crazy when I got back. I have never felt so loved!

We went to Lakelandclubdays together and he surprised people with his silence and good behaviour

For ten years he was my unseparable companion, an invisible shadow at my side, never asking much, but giving a lot. He will be sorely missed.

My lovely lad, I'll never forget you.
